Today we “PinPoint”: Time-Out
| Must be performed prior to starting procedure (surgery or bedside procedures)
All those involved in procedure must participate
The following should be reviewed in the “Time Out”: – Correct patient identity – Correct procedure – Correct side and site are marked (if applicable) – Correct position – Safety precautions based on patient history – Required equipment, devices, medications, images, & results available
Must be documented in EPIC in the procedure note Examples of bedside or outpatient procedures that require a Time-Out
