This week, the Courier-Post featured an article written by Andres J. Pumariega, MD, Chief, Department of Psychiatry at Cooper, about children under treatment for emotional and behavioral issues who are common visitors to hospital emergency rooms throughout the United States. A recent study has shown that the majority of these young patients don’t actually have life-threatening emergencies.
