Jayashree Raman, senior vice president and chief information officer for Cooper University Health Care, has been named one of the nation’s top health care information technology professionals by Becker’s Hospital Review, a leading health care journal. Raman was named to the publication’s “113 Hospital & Health System CIOs to Know 2017.” This was the second year that she was cited by the publication.

“We are proud that Jay has been recognized in this way,” said Adrienne Kirby, president and CEO of Cooper University Health Care. “She is a pioneer in the evolution of health care information technology and provides the vision, leadership, and strategic planning to develop Cooper’s advanced health care information technology infrastructure to improve patient care and safety and advance the clinical and business missions of the health system.”

Under her leadership, Cooper was one of the first hospitals in the country to implement Physician Order Entry, an online system that improved patient safety and quality of care. Cooper was also one of the first hospitals in the region to launch its electronic health record (EHR) long before the 2014 deadline mandated by the federal government.

Raman holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from University of Madras in India, and a Master in Business Management certificate from Tulane University in New Orleans.
