Cooper University Health Care Named “NJ Breastfeeding Friendly Worksite”

In an effort to commend, celebrate and increase the number of NJ worksites that support breastfeeding employees, the New Jersey Breastfeeding Coalition (NJBC) selected  Cooper University Health Care  as a “NJ Breastfeeding Friendly Worksite.

Cooper was recognized for important breastfeeding supportive practices including providing the availability of reasonable breaks to express milk or to nurse their child and access to a private space for expressing milk or nursing their child.   Read more.

Cooper University Health Care receives national recognition for meritorious outcomes in surgical care from The American College of Surgeons

Cooper University Health Care is one of 66 hospitals nationally recognized by The American College of Surgeons 2017 National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (ACS NSQIP®) for achieving meritorious outcomes for surgical patient care.  As a participant in ACS NSQIP, Cooper is required to track the outcomes of inpatient and outpatient surgical procedures and collect data that directs patient safety and the quality of surgical care improvements. Cooper University Health Care Offers to Send Medical Personnel and Supplies to Hurricane Ravaged Puerto Rico

Cooper University Health Care is working with federal government agencies and has offered to send a team of physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals as well as needed supplies to help the people of Puerto Rico, who have been devastated by Hurricane Maria. George E. Norcross, III Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Cooper, and his family have offered to underwrite the estimated $100,000 cost of transportation to Puerto Rico for the Cooper medical support team and supplies. Freeholders institute initiative to fight public health crisis

The Freeholder Board, local law enforcement and healthcare providers announced a new effort to increase public use and visibility of prescription drug drop boxes to combat the opioid crisis. The Camden County Addiction Awareness Task Force made it a point to install standard drop boxes located in police departments throughout the county in 2015. Now, new, mobile drop boxes located in county vehicles will begin to be deployed to events throughout the county this year. Read more.

Cooper Surgeon First in NJ to perform minimally-invasive “GORE® TAG®” procedure to treat arch aortic aneurysms

In early September, a surgical team at Cooper University Health Care, led by Joseph V. Lombardi, MD, FACS, head of the Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery and director of the Cooper Aortic Center, became the first in New Jersey to perform a new minimally-invasive treatment for complicated arch aortic aneurysms.

Cooper is one of only a handful of hospi­tals in the region—and fewer than 40 nationwide—participating in a pivotal study of the GORE® TAG® Thoracic Branch Endoprosthesis (TBE).   Read more.
