Melvin was born at Cooper nine weeks premature, weighing only 2.9 pounds. He spent his first few weeks of life under the watchful eyes of the staff in Cooper’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. To show his gratitude for the exceptional care he received at Cooper, Melvin, now a healthy teenager, collects pennies each year to donate to Cooper’s NICU to help other premature babies like himself. In the last seven years Melvin has raised more than $2,000.
