Patient Safety Sentinel: Mobile Devices

Safety Communication: Mobile Devices

Just as with other devices that come into contact with the hands of healthcare workers, mobile devices can pose a significant risk of spreading HAIs in patient care environments.

Please follow these Safety Tips when using your cell phone or mobile device:

  • Refer to the cleaning instructions for your particular device to clean and disinfect routinely.
  • Always provide hand hygiene following the use of your device.
  • Mobile devices are not permitted in Isolation Rooms.

In addition, employees must be aware of their surroundings when discussing Protected Health Information (PHI) and must never discuss PHI when in public areas.

Read and be aware of the complete Mobile Device Policy 9.209 on the CPN.

Protecting our patients is the top priority at Cooper University Health Care. We need 100 percent compliance with all patient safety procedures.

A sentinel is one who stands guard or watch to protect others. We need all employees to be sentinels to protect our patients and keep watch to ensure all patient safety procedures are being strictly followed.

One Team. One Purpose.
