New Outpatient Diagnostic Mammography Unit Opens at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper

Expanding to meet growing patient demand, MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper recently opened a new outpatient diagnostic mammography center on its Camden campus.

“This is another exciting day as MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper continues to transform cancer care for the people of South Jersey and the region,” said Adrienne Kirby, PhD, FACHE, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Cooper, at a ribbon-cutting ceremony. “In just five short years, MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper has become a leading cancer center in South Jersey with more than 11,000 new patient visits last year alone.”

The one-stop center, conveniently located on the first floor of MD Anderson at Cooper, will offer diagnostic mammograms, biopsies, and ultrasound services. The space includes a consultation area, a reading room, and comfortable waiting areas for patients. The facility also provides a separate waiting area for male patients.

“Our goal is to provide the highest level of services with the needs of our patients in mind,” said Generosa Grana, MD, Director of MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper. “Consolidating these services and adding new amenities in one central location provides patients with greater convenience and access to other services they may need.”

Since opening nearly five years ago, MD Anderson at Cooper has undergone several expansion projects to provide more comprehensive cancer care services for patients. This includes The Janet Knowles Breast Cancer Center in July 2015, a new 30-bed inpatient oncology unit – the only one in South Jersey – on the 5th Floor of the Roberts Pavilion at Cooper University Hospital in July 2016, and an expanded outpatient infusion center in November 2016.
