Training Opportunity: Fundamental Insurance 101

There is an old saying “No margin, no mission”. And this is as true today as it has ever been. As stewards of Cooper’s mission, it’s important that each of us understand our roles in ensuring that we are compensated for the services we provide, so that we can continue to do the great work we do. Whether that is getting all the appropriate information at registration, closing the loop on getting referrals and prior authorizations, ensuring that patient movement in Epic is updated timely or any of the thousands of tasks completed here every day. The smallest diversion from proper workflow, can cause delays in payment or denials of valid claims.

With this in mind, Operational Leadership has partnered with IT training to bring new trainings that reinforce general health care knowledge and best practice workflows. This Monday, May 21, 2018, the first of these trainings, “Fundamental Insurance 101” will be available. Staff with direct responsibility related to gathering or updating payor insurance information will be automatically assigned this eLearning. If it is auto-assigned to you, you must complete the class by June 30th with a test grade of 85% or higher.

The class will also be available in CLN for anyone who would like to increase their understanding of insurance fundamentals. We encourage you to use it.

Our next eLearning will be on referrals and prior authorizations. You will see more information on this class in the near future. Thank you and feel free to send any other topics, that you believe deserve a deeper dive.
