What is your role at Cooper?

My role at Cooper as a Nurse Associate is to be an advocate for our patients. It is to be someone who can be relied upon to give the best assistance possible.

What three words best describe you?

The three words that best describe me are: empathetic, dedicated, lighthearted.

What drew you to this career?

My desire for a role in this career came from a need to help others who are in a difficult position in their lives medically and make them feel as comfortable as possible.

Tell us about a day in your life at Cooper.

My day at Cooper in the Surgical Care Unit is a unique one as many of patients are same day patients. I am able to greet them in the waiting room, bring them to our unit, and provide an idea of what their day will look like. I clean up and turn over rooms getting them ready for the next patient. When a patient comes back to us after their procedure, I help them to get ready for the next phase of recovery by getting them some nourishment. When they feel comfortable with being discharged, I push them in a wheel chair to their transportation.

What does it take to be successful in your role?

To be successful a team member needs to be empathetic, hard worker, and a very supportive person for both our patients and team members.

How would you describe the team at Cooper?

I’d describe the team at Cooper as doing an amazing job of adhering to our mission statement (To Serve. To Heal. To Educate.) and that we do our absolute best to provide positive outcomes for our patients and their families.

What do you hope your patients say about you to their family and friends?

I hope that patients when they leave tell their family and friends that I was very comforting, making them feel at ease by listening and answering their questions.  Also, that if they had to have another procedure there would be no doubt they would return to Cooper because they knew they received the best care!
