Jennifer Pennington, CCT at Cooper
What is your role at Cooper?
I am a critical care technician.
What three words best describe you?
Enthusiastic, caring, and motivated.
What drew you to this career?
I have always wanted to pursue nursing so I began as a tech to gain knowledge and bedside skills as I pursue my nursing degree.
Tell us about a day in your life at Cooper?
A day in my life as a tech is very busy. We hit the floor running. It is a continuous flow, starting off by getting report, then right into vital signs and AM care. We also perform blood draws and EKGS, as well as assisting nurses with whatever they may need in order to care for our patients. Multi-tasking is a must. Along with all your daily tasks, call bells are ringing, and there is always something to be done. You have to prioritize and multitask all day long.
What does it take to be successful in your role?
Dedication, team work, and great communication with your co-workers.
How would you describe the team at Cooper?
Our team is hard working and dedicated to serving and healing our patients.
What do you hope your patients say about you to their family and friends?
I hope they tell their families that I took great care of them and made them feel heard and cared for in what is often a very scary time for our patients.
