{"id":1016,"date":"2018-04-13T18:35:05","date_gmt":"2018-04-13T18:35:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.cooperhealth.org\/ctd\/?p=1016"},"modified":"2018-04-13T18:35:05","modified_gmt":"2018-04-13T18:35:05","slug":"staffing-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.cooperhealth.org\/ctd\/2018\/04\/staffing-update\/","title":{"rendered":"Staffing Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>RN Recruitment Focus<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Currently running a <strong>90 NURSES IN 90 DAYS CAMPAIGN<\/strong> to hire external RNs.\n<ul>\n<li>As of today, we have <u>hired 64 RNs<\/u> through the efforts of this campaign.<\/li>\n<li>The campaign is running from <u>February 21 \u2013 May 25<\/u>.<\/li>\n<li>The focus of this strategy is to ensure we have outside hires to fill open spots in our growth areas, high turnover areas, and Per Diem positions (<u>for summer staffing<\/u>).\u00a0\u00a0 Especially focused on <u>experienced RNs<\/u> in <u>Med Surg, ICU, CDU, ED, PACU and Operating Room<\/u>.<\/li>\n<li>The commitment to hiring by the <u>Clinical Directors<\/u> and <u>ACDs<\/u> has been key to the success of this program!\u00a0\u00a0 Great teamwork.<\/li>\n<li><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Critical Hiring Campaign for Environmental Services, Food &amp; Nutrition, and Transport.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>February 28 Job Fair attracted more than <u>224 candidates<\/u> for our entry level jobs.<\/li>\n<li>From the event, we <u>hired 43 housekeeping<\/u> employees on the spot.<\/li>\n<li>In addition to these on-the-spot hires, we identified <u>59 additional candidates<\/u> \u2013who would be a good fit for our openings \u2013and are eligible for hire when more jobs open up.<\/li>\n<li>We created a <u>pool of per diem employees<\/u> (about 22 people) \u2013 who are at-the-ready and cleared to work, to fill any new Full Time and Part time openings.<\/li>\n<li>It doesn\u2019t stop there.\u00a0\u00a0 We hold weekly regular interview days are in place for these areas, as well, to continue adding to the pipeline.<\/li>\n<li><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Workforce Retention Strategy.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We also know a solid staffing plan includes, ensuring that we keep the people we hire into these key positions across Cooper.<\/li>\n<li>There are teams currently working on Retention strategies for key areas, due to expected growth, high turnover, or market competitiveness.<\/li>\n<li>More information about the work of these teams will be shared throughout the year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Employee Requisition and PMC Process.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A work team has just been established to streamline the employee requisitioning process \u2013 to ensure an efficient process to approve, post, attract, and hire replacement and new positions at Cooper.<\/li>\n<li>This work team is being led by the Operational Excellence team as a Workout.
