It was first established in 2007 by the American Heart Association to help promote a heart-healthy agenda and to encourage people to add a little bit more exercise into their lives. Even as little of 30-minutes of walking a day can have a positive effect on a person\u2019s physical, emotional, and mental health.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>There are so many additional co-benefits too! Consider the mental health benefits of exercise and of getting outside. Sleeping better is another benefit of walking. Studies have shown that people who walk on a regular basis are less likely to suffer insomnia than people who don\u2019t walk at all. And, as we approach Earth Day April 22<sup>nd<\/sup>, we need to think about the effects on your carbon footprint.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>And just because it is a National Walking Day, no reason you could not bike too!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today is National Walking Day!
