Colleagues \u2013 On November 12th<\/span><\/sup><\/span>, we will be upgrading to Epic 2017.\u00a0 There are several new enhancements in the 2017 version of Epic that will have a positive impact in the way we provide care to our patients.\u00a0 Over the next couple of days, we will be sending more information highlighting important feature upgrades.\u00a0 As with any go-live, the acute change-over period is generally the most stressful period as issues that were not identified during build and extensive testing come to light.\u00a0 Our commitment to you is that identified issues will be rectified as quickly as possible.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In order to support the upgrade, the following are being implemented:<\/span><\/p>\n

1.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>A Command Center will be activated which will be staffed 24\/7.\u00a0 Details on specific contact information will be sent in the next couple of days.<\/span><\/p>\n

2.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>The Informatics Team will be available via Cortext Secure Texting.\u00a0 If you haven\u2019t already done so, please download the Imprivata Cortext Secure Texting App.\u00a0 You can reach us by sending a secure message to Medical Informatics.\u00a0 Look up Informatics or Medical Informatics in the Cortext Directory.\u00a0 Instructions for Cortext are attached.<\/span><\/p>\n

a.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span>To download Cortext, go to:\u00a0 <\/span>https:\/\/start.cortext.com\/<\/a> on your mobile device.\u00a0 Click Existing User, download and install the app.<\/span><\/p>\n

b.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Your username is your full email address\u2026..ie:\u00a0 <\/span>lastname-firstname@cooperhealth.edu.\u00a0 Password is your cooper password.<\/span><\/p>\n

Please remember to stay calm and please be patient with your peers and colleagues.\u00a0 Additionally, it is important to not get angry or frustrated at those that are trying to navigate the new system and\/or fix issues as they all have good intentions and are working towards the common goal of helping us and the institution succeed.<\/span><\/p>\n

Below are some of the exciting changes that we believe will make Epic more intuitive and easier to use.\u00a0 The upgrade to Epic 2017 will also give us the necessary foundation to implement additional enhancements over the next couple of months.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ambulatory Specific Changes<\/span><\/u>:<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

1.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Pre-Charting<\/span><\/u><\/b><\/span>:\u00a0 Get a jumpstart on the Charting!\u00a0 With the upgrade, you will be able to prepare for a patient\u2019s visit by pending orders, pulling in past historical information etc.\u00a0 If your patient never arrives, your pre-chart will be automatically deleted.\u00a0 We will be making available a tutorial video shortly.<\/span><\/p>\n

2.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Note Attribution<\/span><\/u><\/b><\/span>:\u00a0 There is a new feature called \u201cHover for Attribution Information\u201d.\u00a0 This new feature will allow you to hover over text in the note to determine who the original author was for the text.<\/span><\/p>\n

3.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Notes in Sidebar<\/span><\/u><\/b><\/span>:\u00a0 Notes will automatically open in a floating sidebar instead of opening within the activity or navigator.\u00a0 This will allow you to view the chart, place orders, and document at the same time.<\/span><\/p>\n

4.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Haiku \/ Canto<\/span> (Smartphones and iPAD)<\/span><\/u><\/b>:\u00a0 There are several enhancements to Haiku and Canto including the ability to view surgical cases.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Click here for instructions on how to install Haiku and\/or Canto.<\/a><\/p>\n

Inpatient Specific Changes<\/span><\/u>:<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

1.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>AVS<\/span><\/u>:\u00a0 <\/span><\/b>The AVS has been redesigned to improve readability for patients. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

2.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Order Entry \/ Order Sets<\/span><\/u><\/b><\/span>:\u00a0 You will no longer have to switch between Order Entry and Order Sets.\u00a0 You will be able to search for an Order Set via the Order Entry activity.<\/span><\/p>\n

Beacon \/ Stork Specific Changes<\/span><\/u>:<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Communication regarding Beacon \/ Stork changes have been communicated to the relevant physician stakeholders for distribution.<\/span><\/p>\n
