{"id":993,"date":"2017-02-28T17:58:44","date_gmt":"2017-02-28T17:58:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.cooperhealth.org\/ctd\/?p=993"},"modified":"2018-02-28T17:59:20","modified_gmt":"2018-02-28T17:59:20","slug":"imprivata-cortext-secure-texting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.cooperhealth.org\/ctd\/2017\/02\/imprivata-cortext-secure-texting\/","title":{"rendered":"Imprivata Cortext Secure Texting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Imprivata Cortext <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\">Over the past year, we have embarked on an exciting journey of implementing Imprivata Cortext\u00a0Secure Texting.\u00a0 The Secure Texting app allows us to communicate efficiently and expeditiously with one another while at the same time allows us to remain compliant with HIPAA.\u00a0 Currently, we are in the midst of our Secure Texting pilot for practitioner to practitioner communication.\u00a0 While not mandatory at this point in time, we strongly encourage you to download, install and utilize this app to become acclimated to secure texting.\u00a0 Additionally, you will help us work out all of the bugs PRIOR to deploying to nursing and other staff in the hospital.\u00a0 In the near future (date to be determined), secure texting will be rolled out institution wide.\u00a0 The intent is to eventually replace our current pagers with secure texting.\u00a0 At this point, secure texting is not mandatory but will be in the future once we complete institution wide rollout (timelines will be sent out separately).\u00a0 However, if you wish to text PHI or send images, it is a HIPAA compliant option.\u00a0 Please note that regular text messaging is NOT HIPAA compliant and is a violation of Federal Law.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\"><u>Why the move to an app<\/u>?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\">During the process of selecting a vendor, our focus groups determined that residents would prefer to carry less devices.\u00a0 Therefore, the secure texting platform is an application or \u201capp\u201d that you can download to any Apple iOS device (preferably iOS 9 or later) or Android Device.\u00a0 Blackberry running Android works too.\u00a0 You can download it to your smartphone if you do not wish to carry an additional device.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\"><u>What if I don\u2019t have a device compatible with Imprivata Cortext Secure Texting<\/u>?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\">Imprivata Cortext Secure Texting is compatible with the following:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\">1.<\/span><span style=\"color: black;font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif';font-size: 7pt\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\">Any Apple iOS device (iPod, iPhone, iPad) from the last few years will work with cortext (iOS 9 or above highly recommend for compatibility).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\">2.<\/span><span style=\"color: black;font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif';font-size: 7pt\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\">Android based devices<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\">Not compatible with Windows Mobile or Blackberry OS.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\"><u>WiFi access seems to be sporadic in the hospital.\u00a0 I get better WiFi access at grocery store.\u00a0 What is Cooper doing about this<\/u>?
