For Americans who identify as LGBTQ+, more than half of them say they have experienced some form of health care discrimination.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cooperhealth.org\/\">Cooper University Health Care<\/a>, the region\u2019s leading academic health system, recently hired <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cooperhealth.org\/doctors\/justin-schweitzer-do\">Justin Schweitzer, DO<\/a>, as Medical Director for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cooperhealth.org\/services\/cooper-proud-lgbtq-health\">Center for LGBTQ+ Health at Cooper<\/a>. His focus is to promote a healthy lifestyle for all of his patients and their families and to increase access to care for those in our region who identify as LGBTQ+.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPatient access to safe, inclusive, and compassionate care is a priority for Cooper and for me,\u201d says Dr. Schweitzer. \u201cWorking as a primary care doctor addressing the needs and concerns of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and non-binary patients for several years, I am happy to bring my experience to Cooper and provide care for patients here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHaving to explain yourself and your identity to health care providers can be frustrating and cause anxiety, which can lead people to withhold important information or stop seeking care,\u201d continues Dr. Schweitzer. \u201cIt is exciting to be part of such an inclusive and compassionate team. We are here for our local LGBTQ+ community to provide services, education, and support when they need it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Center for LGBTQ+ Health at Cooper provides care for a comprehensive range of unique, routine, and preventive health needs. Our team of experts at Cooper includes caring and supportive providers across multiple specialties, including primary care, plastic surgery, breast surgery, urology, clinical psychology, and OB\/GYN.
