data-contrast=\"auto\">Not every mole or skin change means cancer, but if something\u202fdoesn\u2019t\u202flook or feel right,\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0wait\u202f\u2013\u202fget it checked. Persistent sores, changing moles, or unusual new\u202fgrowths\u202fshould be evaluated by a professional.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u202f<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u202f<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cThe only way to know for sure if a lesion is cancerous is through a skin biopsy,\u201d Dr. Onuma says. \u201cThis is a simple procedure that can usually be done right in the office.\u201d<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u202f<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">In most cases,\u00a0basal cell and squamous cell cancers can easily be treated in\u00a0a\u00a0dermatologist\u2019s office. But some may\u00a0require\u00a0more advanced\u00a0procedure\u00a0called Mohs surgery.
