Once a person has had one fracture, the risk of another rises sharply \u2013 especially within the first year or two.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Hip fractures can bring significant health challenges. It reduces bone density, making bones thinner, weaker, and more likely to break.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cOsteoporosis is most common in women after menopause, but it can also occur in men,\u201d Dr. Morley says. \u201cIt may also develop in people who manage chronic conditions with medications such as prednisone or cortisone.
