The amnesia, which may or may not be preceded by a loss of consciousness, almost always involves the loss of memory of the impact that caused the concussion.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><strong>Other immediate signs and symptoms of a concussion may include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Headache<\/li>\n<li>Dizziness<\/li>\n<li>Ringing in the ears<\/li>\n<li>Nausea or vomiting<\/li>\n<li>Slurred speech<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Some symptoms of concussions don&#8217;t appear until hours or days later. They include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mood and cognitive disturbances<\/li>\n<li>Sensitivity to light and noise<\/li>\n<li>Sleep disturbances<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What to Look for in Infants and Toddlers<\/strong><br \/>\nHead trauma is very common in young children. But concussions can be difficult to recognize in infants and toddlers because they can&#8217;t readily communicate how they feel. Nonverbal clues of a concussion may include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Listlessness, tiring easily<\/li>\n<li>Irritability, crankiness<\/li>\n<li>Change in eating or sleeping patterns<\/li>\n<li>Lack of interest in favorite toys<\/li>\n<li>Loss of balance, unsteady walking<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you suspect that you or your child has a concussion, seek medical attention to determine the severity of the injury.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The signs and symptoms of a concussion can be subtle and may not appear immediately.
