Marianne Alexander, RN, MSN, APN<\/a><\/p><\/div>\n

What made you decide\u00a0to become a nurse?<\/strong><\/p>\n

For as long as I can remember, I\u2019ve always had a passion for\u00a0science and math. A dear\u00a0friend of mine steered me\u00a0towards nursing as a career,\u00a0eventually leading me to become an\u00a0Advanced Practice Nurse. I am very\u00a0grateful that I chose a career that gives me such joy and satisfaction.<\/p>\n

What do you like most about primary care?<\/strong><\/p>\n

In primary care, I have the opportunity\u00a0to see patients with a variety of medical\u00a0conditions, making each day different and\u00a0challenging. I started my nursing career\u00a0as an Emergency Room nurse, which gave me a solid foundation.<\/p>\n

What is your philosophy of care?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I enjoy developing long-term relationships\u00a0with my patients and partnering on\u00a0health care decisions. I like to present a\u00a0number of options so we can agree on a\u00a0plan of care together. I am truly invested\u00a0in addressing the individual needs of\u00a0each patient and encouraging realistic\u00a0lifestyle choices to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle.<\/p>\n

How do you spend\u00a0your time when not seeing patients?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I believe a provider must care\u00a0for themselves to best care for\u00a0their patients, so I always try\u00a0to set a healthy example.\u00a0Cycling, gardening, listening to music,\u00a0and spending time with my family and friends are really important to me.<\/p>\n

What is an\u00a0Advanced Practice Nurse?<\/p>\n

An Advanced Practice Nurse (APN)\u00a0is a registered nurse with advanced\u00a0education and training who has\u00a0completed either a Masters or\u00a0Doctoral program. APN\u2019s are licensed\u00a0and board certified to practice and\u00a0manage a patient\u2019s overall care\u00a0independently. They can perform\u00a0assessments and diagnose patients,\u00a0prescribe medications, order diagnostic\u00a0tests such as lab work, imaging, and more.<\/p>\n

At Ripa, our APN\u2019s collaborate with our\u00a0team of specialists to provide each\u00a0patient with the highest level of care.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
