Who or what inspired you to become a doctor?
My grandmother was diagnosed with a glioblastoma when I was 16. At the time, the standard of care was surgery, followed by radiation therapy. For nine months, we cared for the matriarch of our family. She fought bravely. Despite our struggle, we met some of the most compassionate and empathetic healthcare providers. It was that experience that led me to a career in oncology.
What do you like most about your position at Cooper?
I love the hospital setting. I have the ability to collaborate with hospitalists and specialists in real time. In a single day, I am able to review pathology slides and radiology, accompany patients to procedures, perform procedures, administer chemotherapy and obtain test results. I also participate in both hematology and solid tumor diagnoses and I enjoy the variety of patients and cases.
Besides work and family, what are your passions?
If I had to choose one, it would be music. I am currently learning how to play the piano and also play the drums. I enjoy all genres and enjoy getting lost in the beauty of music.
Do you have a personal motto or philosophy?
“She believed she could, so she did.”
What three words best describe you?
Empathetic, driven, charismatic
What are you currently reading/watching/listening to?
I am waiting for the new series “The Haunting of Bly Manor.” Did anyone see “The Haunting of Hill House?!!” I’m not one for scary movies or shows but wow…
Tell us something about you that people wouldn’t expect.
My aunt worked in marketing and sales in Philadelphia when I was a child. Through her connections, I was a part of the “Philly 57 Kids Club.” I appeared on commercials for McDonald’s and fire prevention/safety. We still have them recorded on VHS!
