Q&A with Pink & Teal Hero: Dr. Lauren Krill

Who inspired you to become a doctor?
My family doctor, Dr. David Bazzo, inspired me when I was very young because of his exceptional care. When I volunteered for various causes in college, I decided I wanted to dedicate my career to women’s health.

What do you like most about your position at Cooper?
I enjoy my colleagues the most. From medical assistants and nurses, to doctors and the administration, Cooper has the best team providing excellent care for our patients.

Do you have a personal motto or philosophy?
I strive for compassion and caring in everything that I do. I am inspired by others, by art, and the words of others. “Where there is love there is life” is engraved on my wedding ring and the lighthouse painting in my son’s room reminds us “the more light you allow within you, the brighter the world you live in will be.”

What three words best describe you?
Kind, intelligent, passionate

What are you currently reading?
The Road to Character, by David Brooks

Tell us something about you people wouldn’t expect?
During my lab research year in fellowship, in my “spare time,” I obtained a master’s degree in translation and clinical research for fun and to enrich my education.

Why should people support Pink and Teal?
We know that women live longer when they choose highly-skilled gynecologic oncologists who care for patients at high-volume centers like MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper. Thanks to contributions from patients, providers, and the community, Pink Roses Teal Magnolias supports many initiatives like the Survivorship Program, the Patient In Need Fund and the Complementary Medicine program. These programs are of the utmost importance because they ensure access to the best care for women in South Jersey, improve patient outcomes and eliminate health care disparities in our communities.
