On Wednesday, September 15, Dr. Ramya Lotano is bringing a celebrated poet to Cooper. Sandra Turner-Barnes, a poet, author and executive director of the Camden County Cultural and Heritage Commission (link to her poem, “My City, My Camden)” Sandra Turner-Barnes will speak to us on the topic of “Little Known Truths regarding African Enslavement in the State of New Jersey 1695-1866.” She was born at Cooper Hospital and raised in the city of Camden while her mother was an employee of Cooper Hospital. There will be a WebEx option.
