Naomi Lawrence, M.D.
The June issue of Cosmopolitan magazine features an article about safe skin practices during the summer months. Naomi Lawrence, M.D., Head of the Division of Dermatology, Section of Procedural Dermatology, was interviewed for the piece and commented on the importance of also checking your scalp and neck for sun damage.
“There are a lot of blood vessels in the scalp and neck, which make it easier for melanoma to circulate through the body and cause cancer in other organs,” said Dr. Lawrence. “Your hair may also hide these cancers, so you don’t find them until they are at a later stage.”
