Construction is underway at the future home of the Cooper Medical School of Rowan University.
This week, the Courier-Post published an article about a recommendation to merge higher education institutions in South Jersey.
George E. Norcross, III, Chairman of Cooper University Hospital’s Board of Trustees, said he loves the idea of a South Jersey merger involving Rutgers, Rowan, Cooper Medical School at Rowan and the School of Osteopathic Medicine.
“You’d have two medical schools, a law school (Rutgers-Camden) and an engineering school (Rowan) – the size of a real university that could compete with what they have in Philadelphia and could become something even greater,” Norcross said. “The two medical schools need to be part of one institution. Why not put them under an umbrella that could be beneficial to both?”
