innovator of the year awardiSirona®, a provider of simplified solutions for medical device integration, today announced Cooper University as the recipient of its 2011 Innovator of the Year Award. With over 600 physicians in over 75 specialties, Cooper University is a leading provider of health services, medical education and clinical research.

iSirona’s Innovator of the Year Award recognizes hospitals that demonstrate a commitment to technological innovation and advancements. More specifically, award recipients must show a demonstrated ability to leverage connectivity technology along with measurable improvements to hospital processes and/or patient care.

Cooper University Hospital recently undertook a multi-phase device integration project that resulted in the connection of more than 200 devices to the hospital’s Epic clinical information system. As a result, Cooper is experiencing improved access to patient data, decreased charting time for nurses and increased time for direct care.

“We applaud Cooper’s successful outcomes as well as their overall approach to this project,” says Dave Dyell, iSirona’s CEO. “The leadership and clinical staff at Cooper exemplify many of the best practices that lead to successful implementations.”

Mike Walcheski, Senior Integration Analyst for Cooper, adds, “We don’t view our integration efforts as one-off projects. Our success is the result of a well-coordinated effort by everyone involved. Our clinical staff, the IT department and iSirona’s team all came together to get us to a great result.”
