Construction continues on Cooper Medical School of Rowan University
The Courier-Post recently published an article about a group of representatives from national philanthropic organizations that took a tour of Camden and witnessed firsthand how public-private partnerships with urban anchor institutions within the city have helped revitalize the community.
Paul Katz, MD, Founding Dean of the Cooper Medical School at Rowan University, said many of his colleagues questioned his acceptance of a role in the blighted town when he could have gone elsewhere.
“My response was for me and for this school, being located in Camden is an asset, not an obstacle,” Katz said. “Everything we do is going to be focused on what we can do for this city.”
