Eric E. Kupersmith, MD, Head of the Division of Hospital Medicine, has been appointed Deputy Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for Hospital Operations. Reporting to Carolyn E. Bekes, MD, Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Kupersmith’s responsibilities include hospital through put and quality, and improving the efficiency and effectiveness of services to patients.
Dr. Kupersmith will focus on safe and timely care transitions, as well as supporting efforts to meet and exceed regulatory requirements of The Joint Commission. To achieve these goals, Dr. Kupersmith will work with Cooper University Physicians and Cooper University Hospital to align and integrate clinical and operational efforts. Dr. Kupersmith also will continue in his role as Head of the Division of Hospital Medicine in the Department of Medicine
