A new scientific study has generated headlines recently with its finding that many women with gynecologic cancer don’t get the care they need because their physicians don’t have the necessary expertise to provide the best treatment options.
“A study recently presented at the meeting of the Society of Gynecologic Oncology clearly demonstrates that most women with ovarian cancer receive inadequate surgical care and miss out on chemotherapy treatments that could add a year or more to their lives – something we’ve believed at Cooper’s Gynecologic Cancer Center for years,” says David Warshal, MD, Director of the Gynecologic Cancer Center at Cooper Cancer Institute. “At Cooper, our multidisciplinary gynecologic cancer care team provides hundreds of women each year with access to dedicated gynecologic oncologic surgeons, innovative treatment options such as intraperitoneal chemotherapy, groundbreaking clinical trials, genetic counseling and testing, and a full range of supportive care services. This comprehensive, personalized and focused approach to cancer care makes a significant difference in patient outcomes and overall patient experience.”
Cooper has the only comprehensive program for gynecologic cancer in South Jersey, offering advanced diagnostic techniques and treatments as well as access to more clinical trials than any other center in the state of New Jersey.
