Cooper University Health Care and Kennedy Health System are partnering to expand cardiac services in Gloucester County with the opening of a new Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Kennedy University Hospital in Washington Township. A ribbon-cutting event was held on November 3, 2014.
The Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at the Kennedy Heart Center, a Cooper Heart Institute Partner, will expand the community’s access to highly trained and experienced interventional cardiologists affiliated with the Cooper Heart Institute.
“We are excited to offer this program in conjunction with the Cooper Heart Institute, which has a reputation as a leading academic center for cardiac care in southern New Jersey, ” said Kennedy’s Chief of Surgery, Fritz Bech, MD, who will serve as co-medical director, along with Cooper cardiologist Brian J. Corbett, DO.
“This region of Gloucester County is quickly growing, and the partnership to open and operate this facility allows patients increased access to care without having to travel outside of the community,” said Dr. Corbett. “This is a state-of-the-art catheterization laboratory that will offer a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients close to home.”
The Kennedy Heart Center is a 3,900-square-foot facility constructed in existing space on the first floor of Kennedy University Hospital on Hurffville-Cross Keys Road, Turnersville. The project cost nearly $4 million for construction and equipment, including the most advanced cardiac digital-imaging technology. The Center will be open Monday through Friday by appointments through referring cardiologists.
In addition to several Kennedy and Cooper-affiliated cardiologists, a number of community-based cardiology practices, including Cardiology Associates of the Delaware Valley, P.A., and the South Jersey Heart Group, are credentialed and will treat patients at the new center.
