Camden, NJ—MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper is expanding its services with the opening of a new inpatient oncology unit at Cooper University Hospital. The new, specialized 30-bed, all private-room unit on the 5th floor of the Roberts Pavilion will replace Cooper’s existing oncology inpatient unit and will begin accepting patients in early July. Cooper is the only hospital in South Jersey with a dedicated inpatient oncology unit.
“This unit is an important part of our comprehensive cancer services,” said Adrienne Kirby, PhD, FACHE, President and Chief Executive Officer at Cooper. “Since 2013, when we partnered with MD Anderson Cancer Center to bring world-class cancer care to South Jersey, thousands of residents have chosen to stay right here in the Garden State to receive first-rate cancer care. Each year since opening the cancer center, we have seen a substantial increase in patients. Since 2013, we have experienced a more than 20 percent increase in patients we’ve treated.”
