Lenora Martin: Going Above and Beyond for a Pediatric Trauma Patient and His Family

On Wednesday, September 27, 2017, Lenora Martin was recognized by Nicole Fox, MD, MPH, FACS, Medical Director of Pediatric Trauma, and Stacey Staman, RN, MSN, Trauma Program Coordinator of Pediatrics at Cooper, for going above and beyond her role as a transporter at Cooper in service to a pediatric trauma patient and their family.

“One of our pediatric trauma patients was leaving the hospital with his parents after being discharged. That day it happened to be pouring rain outside and Lenora overheard the patient’s parents telling him they would need to walk home. Lenora graciously put the family in a cab and paid the cab fare so they could be transported home safely.

“Because she is generally just an amazing and compassionate person she totally forgot about doing this. When our patient returned last month to Cooper for the Celebration of Life, he saw Lenora wheeling a patient through the lobby on her shift and recognized her immediately. He ran up to give her a big hug and thanked her. She was overwhelmed.

“Lenora is an asset to Cooper and an amazing human being. She truly embodies the phrase ‘one team, one purpose’ and we appreciate her generosity and compassion in the care of our patients,” said Dr. Fox.
