Outstanding Leadership Awards Recognize Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers for Contributions to Cooper

Earlier this month, Steven E. Ross, MD, FACS, FCCM, Vice Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Cooper, presented Outstanding Leadership Awards to five members of our Cooper clinical team who were nominated by members of the Cooper Medical Executive Committee, and selected by our Medical Staff leadership. Below, read more about what made these five recipients stand out among our team. We are incredibly thankful for the dedication and commitment of these recipients, and all they do on behalf of our team, our patients, and our community.

Dr. Dellinger joined the faculty at Cooper in 2001, and he has been a faithful pillar of the institution ever since. He served as Division Head of Critical Care Medicine from 2001 until 2013, and served as Chief of the Department of Medicine from 2013 through 2017. Outstanding Leadership Award – Junior Physician
The Junior Physician Leadership Awards are for physicians who have been on the medical staff at Cooper less than five years and are viewed as having made a significant contribution to the institution and medical staff.

Dr. Bartock has been an integral member of the critical care team since 2016; and, in 2020, has become Program Director for the Critical Care Medicine Fellowship Program. During his short time as Program Director, we have seen a rise in our ACGME scores and his leadership and guidance of the fellows has led to our hospital-acquired infection rate being the lowest number we have seen in years.

Dr. Bartock is a dedicated intensivist to his patients and to the Critical Care Team. He was spotlighted on the local news for his compassionate care of a COVID survivor and the Egg Harbor Policy Department has recognized him as an honorary officer for “saving one of their own”.

Dr. Renata Ostrowicki was recruited as the Division Head of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine In January 2018. Through her tireless efforts, she has improved clinical performance through protocol development and implementation, collaboration between varied services (trauma, surgery, and respiratory therapy), resident education, and patient satisfaction; all despite an increase in patient volume and case mix index. Dr. Ostrowicki has also led the organization of inpatient pediatric care through enhanced collaboration with Pediatric Hospitalist services. Renata is a role model for junior faculty members as they transition to physician leadership.

She works collaboratively with Medical Staff in Emergency Medicine, Pediatric Emergency Medicine, and Salem Memorial Hospital.

Anita Miller, CRNA
Outstanding Leadership Award – Licensed Independent Practitioner
The Advanced Practitioner Leadership Awards reflect an individual who has made significant contributions to Cooper during their career.

Anita is not only the Chief CRNA, but has also become an integral part of the leadership platform of the Anesthesiology Department. She embraces and embodies Cooper Core Values, integrating institutional priorities in the very complicated environment of the OR and procedural spaces while being known for her fairness, transparency, honesty, grace, energy, passion, commitment, humor, and integrity. Perhaps the greatest indication of her value system, abilities, and institutional value was revealed by how she helped to manage the COVID-19 pandemic.

During Anita’s presentation, we was recognized as being “the warmest soul. She simply cares for us all. Everyone knows that she is in it to make a positive difference for them, Cooper, and our patients.”

Congratulations to all of our exceptional Cooper leadership who were recognized by these awards, and thank you for all you do!

    All,

    I had bi-lateral shoulder arthroplasty on March 16th 2021.

My surgeon was Matthew T Kleiner, MD of Cooper. He not only replaced my shoulders. He tempered my outlook through horrific simultaneous injuries.

He healed me. Three months out and I’m well on my way to recovery. I’m not sure if there is an award for this practice but Dr. Kleiner deserves one.

He did all this while anticipating his own child. Courage is defined as Grace under pressure. And he has it.

    Best
    David
