Cooper makes Forbes’ America’s Best Employers List in New Jersey for third consecutive year

For the third consecutive year, Cooper University Health Care was named one of America’s Best-in-State Employers by Forbes, the prominent national business publication. Cooper was one of only 12 health systems in New Jersey to make the Forbes list in 2023.

“It is a great honor for Cooper to be named to Forbes’ prestigious national list for three consecutive years and be one of only 12 New Jersey health systems named to the ‘Best Employer’ list,” said George E. Norcross III, the chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Cooper Health System, Cooper University Hospital, and MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper. “We recognize that our ability to provide world class care, expand the services we provide and grow as a leading academic health system is directly due to our outstanding team members, which is why we are committed to continually providing the resources and support our team needs for success.”

“For the third consecutive year, this tremendous national recognition from Forbes demonstrates the outstanding culture and workplace environment the more than 10,000 Cooper team members have created,” said Kevin O’Dowd, co-CEO of Cooper University Health Care. “Today, we simply say thank you to each of them for their tireless dedication to serving both Cooper patients and each other.”

“As an academic health system, Cooper’s team members are among the best health care professionals and this acknowledgement by Forbes — for a third consecutive year – is a reflection of their dedication to serving our patients and each other,” said Anthony J. Mazzarelli, MD, JD, MBE, co-CEO of Cooper.

America’s Best-in-State Employers 2023 were identified in an independent survey based on a vast sample of approximately 70,000 Americans working for companies with more than 500 employees in the USA. Across 25 industry sectors, 1,392 organizations were ranked among the top employers. The evaluation was based on direct and indirect recommendations from employees who were asked to rate their willingness to recommend their own employers to friends and family.

Cooper is committed to creating an outstanding work environment by providing competitive compensation, a comprehensive employee benefits program, and the chance to build a career with a leading academic health system. In 2019, Cooper was the first health system in the state to implement a $15 an hour minimum wage, serving as the catalyst for other health systems in the region to follow suit.
