Silver EPO plans to be available both on and off New Jersey’s federally run health care exchange.
AmeriHealth New Jersey today announced that together with Cooper University Health Care they have created new co-branded insurance products designed for individuals and small businesses. The Silver EPO (Exclusive Provider Organization) plans will be available on the Individual and SHOP Marketplaces, New Jersey’s federally run health exchanges for consumers and small businesses. They will also be available off the exchange ─ by contacting AmeriHealth New Jersey directly, or through a broker.
Earlier this year AmeriHealth New Jersey and Cooper University Health Care announced that Cooper would acquire a 20 percent interest in AmeriHealth New Jersey and together they would develop and offer an expanded suite of health plans and an accountable care model for New Jersey residents.
The Silver EPO plans are tailored to meet the needs for individuals and small businesses based in Camden, Gloucester and Burlington counties. The plans were designed with tiered networks to provide more choice based on an individual’s or business’ budget.
“We are committed to helping individuals and small businesses understand their health insurance options and what will work best for them,” said Mike Munoz, senior vice president for sales and marketing for AmeriHealth New Jersey. “We are excited to collaborate with Cooper University Health Care to offer this new suite of health insurance plans specifically designed for South Jersey residents that provide new options focused on affordability while offering access to exceptional patient care.”
Affordable options, access to world-class care
The insurance plan offers an in-network option that has lower copays and out-of-pocket costs for members within the Tier 1 benefit level that utilizes the Cooper Advantage Network. The Cooper Advantage network is the option that provides access to world-class care from Cooper’s more than 500 employed physicians in South Jersey and a network of over 100 outpatient offices.
The insurance plans also offer an in-network option within the Tier 2 of the benefit. This allows members to access AmeriHealth New Jersey’s broader Local Value Network across the entire state with a slight increase in copays and out-of-pocket costs. The Local Value Network includes the Cooper Advantage network.
For example, if a member went to a Cooper Advantage primary care physician, their copay for services would be $15. If the member chose to go to a primary care physician outside of the Cooper Advantage network within the broader New Jersey statewide Local Value Network, then their physician copay would be $50.
Features of the Silver EPO plans:
- Members are free to visit in-network providers and hospitals directly ─ no referrals are required.
- Members can access in-network PCPs to coordinate care.
- Cooper University Health Care offers the largest physician practice group in South Jersey, with the most comprehensive services available.
- Preventative care is covered at 100 percent.
- Enhanced programs to control and manage chronic conditions.
- Access to AmeriHealth New Jersey’s Commit2WellnessSM program, which includes fitness reimbursement and discounts on alternative health care services.
- Simple and easy to use, with no paperwork.
“Through this collaboration, more patients in New Jersey will have access to the high level of care Cooper offers across a broad spectrum of services from primary care to cardiac care, cancer, orthopaedics as well as pediatrics,” said Eli Winkler, Senior Vice President of Growth and Development.
