On Saturday, September 14, Cooper celebrated the resiliency and triumphs of pediatric patients who have received care in the pediatric trauma program.\u00a0 Michael Goodman, MD, Chief and Chairman of Pediatrics, and Nicole Fox, MD, MPH, Pediatric Trauma Medical Director, welcomed guests who then enjoyed a Super Hero themed event with activities for children of all ages and a picnic-style lunch.\u00a0 Cooper staff enjoyed seeing their prior patients and families from the prior two years. The parents of patient Jake Disimine gave a heartfelt speech about their experience and thanked Cooper staff for their support during their son\u2019s stay.<\/p>\n

This event could not happen without the support of the many departments that donated raffle baskets, created arts and crafts activities, and so much more including:\u00a0Cooper Pediatric and PICU Staff<\/a>,\u00a0Cooper Orthopaedic Group<\/a>,\u00a0Cooper Patient Relations<\/a>,\u00a0Trauma Family Support Committee<\/a>, The\u00a0Cooper Foundation<\/a>,\u00a0Cooper Medical School of Rowan University medical students<\/a>, and\u00a0Safe Kids of New Jersey<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Each year, of the nearly 3,000 trauma cases, approximately 15 percent are children who are severely injured in motor vehicle crashes, falls, accidents and acts of violence.
