EMS Flight Nurse Named 2020 Cooper Nurse of the Year<\/strong><\/em><\/h2>\n

Cooper University Health Care has named Steven Teitelman, RN, BSN<\/strong>, of Egg Harbor Township, NJ, as the 2020 Nurse of the Year. Teitelman, a flight nurse coordinator with Cooper\u2019s Air Medical Services, also received the Barbara and Jack Tarditi Award for Excellence in Nursing Mentorship Award as part of Cooper\u2019s Annual Nursing Excellence Awards presented during National Nurses\u2019 Week (May 6-12).<\/p>\n

The Nursing Excellence Awards recognize exceptional professional nurses and advanced practice nurses, at any Cooper University Health Care location, as well as members of the collaborative care teams that support nursing.\u00a0 Award winners were nominated by their colleagues for their commitment to upholding the Cooper mission \u201cto serve, to heal, to educate\u201d and are supported by gifts from generous donors to The Cooper Foundation.<\/p>\n

\u201cSteve is the model nurse, as he remains dedicated to helping his colleagues provide the best possible care and embracing challenges along the way,\u201d said Kathy Devine, DrNP, RN, NEA-BC, Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer at Cooper. \u201cCooper\u2019s Air Medical Services is a crucial program providing transportation services to critically ill and injured patients. Steve is a valued member of that team and a true leader.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis year\u2019s awards, recognizing the excellence of our nurses, takes on added significance as our nurses are front and center in the fight against COVID-19,\u201d said Anthony J. Mazzarelli, MD, JD, MBE, Co-President\/CEO at Cooper.\u00a0\u201cI congratulate our award winners and want to thank all of our nurses for their bravery, skill, and compassion every single day.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOver the past few months, we have seen the courage and caring of Cooper nurses, and nurses across the nation,\u201d said Kevin M. O\u2019Dowd, JD, Co-President at Cooper. \u201cNurses are true heroes, deserving our gratitude and support. I want to congratulate this year\u2019s winners for their excellence in serving our patients and for inspiring their colleagues through their dedication and leadership.\u201d<\/p>\n
