Six-year-old Lily Cuticchia of Haddon Township, NJ, with her mother, Jordan. Lily donated nearly 1,200 pairs of new socks she collected for patients in Cooper\u2019s emergency department and addiction medicine programs.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"On Monday, July 20, six-year-old Lily Cuticchia of Haddon Township, NJ visited Cooper University Health Care to donate nearly 1,200 pairs of new socks she collected for patients in Cooper\u2019s emergency department and addiction medicine programs.\u00a0 Representatives from both departments were on hand to accept the donations.<\/p>\n

When Lily\u2019s mom began working at Cooper University Health Care last fall, she took a keen interest in her mother\u2019s job in the Addiction Medicine Department. She had a particular concern for the patients at the hospital. On a recent walk with her mom, Lily began collecting sticks. Her mother, Jordan, asked her why she was doing that. The six-year old replied, \u201cI want to polish them and sell them so I can help those in need,\u201d she said.\u00a0 Jordan indicated there may be another way to help. They asked hospital staff, and what they found out was that patients who come to the Addiction Medicine Program and Emergency Department are often in need of socks. Socks! That was something Lily decided she could collect. What started out as a simple collection among friends and relatives, ended up growing as people hear of Lily\u2019s determination. In a month\u2019s time, she had collected nearly 1,200 pairs of new socks for patients. Lily will be turning over her collection to the hospital staff so patients can begin benefiting from her generosity and the generosity of others! Lily will be starting second grade at St. Rose of Lima Catholic School in the fall.<\/p>\n
