Lillie Jackmon rings the bell signaling the end of her radiation therapy treatment for lung cancer at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper on Tuesday, September 21.\u00a0<\/p><\/div>\n

Camden resident, Lillie Jackmon, got a surprise send-off as she rang the bell signaling the end of her radiation therapy treatment for lung cancer at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper on Tuesday, September 21.\u00a0 Camden Mayor Vic Carstarphen and Camden City Councilman Chris Collins joined the staff from MD Anderson at Cooper and dozens of Lillie\u2019s friends and family members to wish her well following treatment. The 87-year-old resident is well known in Camden and has been involved in many local community organizations and churches.\u00a0 The Mayor and City Council presented Lillie with a proclamation in honor of her fighting spirit and determination.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are excited to be standing here with Lillie today, and we are heartened by all the support,\u201d said Generosa Grana, MD, director of MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper. \u201cAn outstanding medical team is one part of the equation. We also know the love and support of the community and family goes a long way in helping our cancer patients.\u201d<\/p>\n
