Kathy Devine, DrNP, NEA-BC<\/p><\/div>\n

Kathy Devine, DrNP, RN<\/a>, senior vice president and chief nursing officer at Cooper University Health Care is the recipient of the 2021 Nurse Executive Award by The Organization of Nurse Leaders of New Jersey<\/a>. This award, which will be presented in early December, recognizes Dr. Devine’s exceptional leadership, guidance, and service to the nursing profession and in particular to the Cooper University Health Care system.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe cannot think of anyone more deserving of this honor than Kathy Devine,\u201d said Kevin O\u2019Dowd, JD, co-CEO of Cooper. \u201cThroughout the pandemic, Kathy provided steady, compassionate, and inspirational leadership to her entire team and our patients under the most challenging circumstances.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cKathy is the ultimate professional and well respected by everyone\u2013 from our medical staff to our nurses and our support team members. Kathy is a tireless advocate for nurses as well as patients and their families and Cooper is fortunate to have her on our leadership team,\u201d said Anthony J. Mazzarelli, MD, JD, MBE, co-CEO of Cooper.<\/p>\n

Dr. Devine is responsible for professional nursing practice across the continuum of care to ensure safety, service, and quality outcomes for Cooper University Health Care’s diverse patient population. In addition, she has\u00a0administrative and operational leadership responsibility for Nursing and Patient Care Services. As senior vice president and chief nursing officer, Dr. Devine continues to advance nursing practice by engaging her nurses to redefine how nursing is practiced in today\u2019s dynamic health care environment to better support Cooper\u2019s mission to serve, to heal, and to educate.<\/p>\n

Dr. Devine has held various leadership positions during her tenure at Cooper. Prior to her current role, she served as the executive director for the Centers of Urgent and Emergent Services, Critical Care, and Hospital-Based Services, managing a comprehensive range of clinical programs. As a professional nurse, she has a diverse clinical background with experiences in adult and pediatric critical care nursing, emergency and trauma nursing, as well as flight nursing. She received her MSN and DrNP from Drexel University, and obtained her nurse executive advanced certification through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), and her Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification from Villanova University.<\/p>\n

With 500 members strong, ONL NJ has been the professional organization for nurse leaders in their quest for a united voice in representing nursing administration and management in all practice settings, and is inclusive of the engagement of all nurse leaders and aspiring nurse leaders in the state. ONL NJ is committed to ongoing professional development, creating and sustaining healthy workplace environments, the development of formal and informal nursing mentorship opportunities at all levels, and mapping the future of safe patient care delivery in New Jersey.<\/p>\n
