In the spirit of giving, Camden Mayor Victor Carstarphen and The Cooper Foundation<\/a> will be joined by City Council members, community leaders, Camden corporate partners, the City\u2019s Department of Human Services, staff and volunteers, as they look to celebrate the Thanksgiving Holiday by providing a total of 1,000 turkeys and turkey breasts to Camden senior citizens and families.<\/p>\n

The effort is coordinated as a part of Mayor Victor Carstarphen\u2019s Annual Turkey Giveaway in cooperation with The Cooper Foundation and Cooper University Health Care.\u00a0The turkeys have been generously donated by an anonymous individual who was instrumental in providing the 1,900 holiday meals distributed last year to seniors in Camden during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic.\u00a0The turkeys were distributed to Camden residents on Monday, November 22 at pre-selected City of Camden community centers and housing complexes.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs our region prepares to once again celebrate Thanksgiving during this ongoing pandemic, we continue to partner with local organizations to support our Camden neighbors,\u201d said Camden Mayor Victor Carstarphen.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf the pandemic has taught us anything, it is the importance of community in difficult times. I am grateful that the Camden community continues to look out for each other during a holiday season in which time with family and friends is everything,\u201d said Congressman Donald Norcross.<\/p>\n

“The City of Camden has been Cooper\u2019s home for nearly 135 years and this turkey giveaway is one more way we can serve the community. We wish everyone a safe and healthy Thanksgiving,\u201d said George E. Norcross, III, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Cooper Health System, Cooper University Hospital, and MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper.<\/p>\n
