As part of the Subaru Loves to Care<\/a> program, representatives from Subaru of America, Inc. (Subaru) visited Cooper University Health Care recently to announce a number of donations to benefits Camden-based patients being treated at Cooper.<\/p>\n

Subaru presented a check for $30,000 to purchase durable medical equipment \u2013 including blood pressure cuffs, glucometers, and scales \u2013 to help patients manage chronic health conditions at home and help prevent the need for emergency department visits or hospitalizations. In conjunction with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), Subaru also donated a supply of plush blankets and handwritten messages of hope for patients with cancer at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper. Subaru also announced a $15,000 donation to the LLS to support a transportation fund for Camden patients undergoing cancer treatment.<\/p>\n

\u201cSubaru continues to be a very generous leader and neighbor in Camden. Their blankets and messages of hope have a tremendous positive impact on our cancer patients and their gift of critical supplies and new funding for a transportation program will benefit our Camden-based patients most in need,\u201d said George E. Norcross III, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Cooper Health System, Cooper University Hospital, and MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper. “With these new gifts and all Subaru does for the city, it is certainly fulfilling its ‘Love Promise’ to Camden.”<\/p>\n

\u201cSubaru\u2019s ongoing support has enhanced the experience of our patients in numerous ways throughout the years\u2014from MD Anderson at Cooper to our EMS Program and now through our Urban Health Institute. We are thankful for the creative and generous ways Subaru is making a difference in the community,\u201d said Anthony J. Mazzarelli, MD, JD, MBE, co-CEO of Cooper.<\/p>\n

\u201cHelping our Camden community get and stay healthy is what Subaru Loves to Care month is all about, so we are thrilled to help support our neighbors with chronic health conditions receive the medical equipment they need to stay healthy at home,\u201d said Shira Haaz, Corporate Responsibility Manager, Subaru of America, Inc. \u201cSubaru also understands that there are a lot of unexpected out-of-pocket costs associated with cancer treatment, so we hope that the transportation fund alleviates some of the burdens on our community members living with cancer.\u201d<\/p>\n

Through Subaru Loves to Care<\/a>, the health-focused philanthropic pillar of the Subaru Love Promise<\/a> vision, Cooper has been the recipient of numerous charitable donations. Last year, Subaru provided bundles of gift cards to more than 900 support staff at Cooper in recognition of their efforts throughout the pandemic.<\/p>\n

As part of the ongoing Subaru Loves to Care initiative, Subaru and LLS have donated blankets and messages of hope to cancer patients and their families at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper for six years. Additionally, the automaker has donated four vehicles<\/a> to the Cooper EMS program since 2015. Subaru has also supported other initiatives at Cooper over the years including funding for community programs, the Children’s Regional Hospital at Cooper, The Cooper Foundation\u2019s Pink Roses Teal Magnolias event for women’s cancer, and the Camden Health & Athletic Association.<\/p>\n
