This national distinction celebrates Cooper\u2019s achievements in prioritizing patient safety by protecting patients from preventable harm and errors. The new grades reflect performance primarily during the height of the pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCooper\u2019s national recognition as a top hospital for patient safety by The Leapfrog Group is a testament to the incredible, everyday commitment of our leadership and every team member. This award, on the heels of Cooper&#8217;s receipt of its highest ratings ever from both S&amp;P Global (A-) and Moody&#8217;s (A3), reflects the focus on excellence and patient safety that has defined Cooper for more than 135 years,\u201d said George E. Mazzarelli, MD, JD, MBE, co-CEO of Cooper.<\/p>\n<p>The Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog organization, assigns an \u201cA,\u201d \u201cB,\u201d \u201cC,\u201d \u201cD\u201d or \u201cF\u201d grade to general hospitals across the country based on more than 30 national performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries, infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis new update of Hospital Safety Grades shows that, at the national level, we saw deterioration in patient safety with the pandemic,\u201d said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. \u201cBut this hospital received an \u2018A\u2019 despite those challenges.
