Cooper University Health Care, the region\u2019s leading academic health system, has been accredited as a Level 4 Epilepsy Center by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers (NAEC) for a three-year term, from 2026 through 2028.<\/p>\n

Level 4 is the highest level of accreditation awarded by NAEC and recognizes epilepsy centers that provide the most advanced level of medical and surgical evaluation and treatment for patients with complex seizure disorders.<\/p>\n

Through Cooper and Inspira Neuroscience<\/a>, Cooper has one of the most comprehensive epilepsy programs in South Jersey,<\/a> evaluating and treating epilepsy in both children and adults. The Cooper Epilepsy Center emphasizes the long-term management of difficult seizure cases using the latest pharmacological and non-pharmacological strategies and provides education, psychosocial counseling, stress management, and social services to support patients and families.<\/p>\n

This accreditation recognizes our ability to provide highly specialized care for patients with complex and treatment-resistant epilepsy while helping them achieve the best possible quality of life.”<\/p>\n

The Cooper Epilepsy Center provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary care for patients with epilepsy, bringing together neurologists, nurse practitioners, EEG technicians, neuropsychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and other specialists to develop individualized treatment plans.<\/p>\n

Primary care physicians across South Jersey rely on the center, which offers the full spectrum of treatment options. The center offers medications, dietary therapies, epilepsy surgery, and neuromodulation therapies, including vagus nerve stimulation (VNS), responsive neurostimulation (RNS), and deep brain stimulation (DBS). Patients are evaluated and treated in state-of-the-art facilities throughout South Jersey and have access to innovative therapies and clinical trials that are helping shape the future of epilepsy care. For patients whose seizures are not well controlled with medication, Cooper offers comprehensive evaluation for epilepsy surgery and other advanced treatment options for refractory seizure disorders.<\/p>\n

The NAEC accreditation process evaluates epilepsy centers on criteria related to clinical expertise, services, and resources required to provide specialized epilepsy care. Cooper\u2019s three-year Level 4 accreditation affirms that the center meets national standards for delivering comprehensive, high-quality care to people living with epilepsy.<\/p>\n
