{"id":1594,"date":"2010-10-14T13:25:50","date_gmt":"2010-10-14T17:25:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.cooperhealth.org\/news\/?p=1594"},"modified":"2010-10-20T09:53:19","modified_gmt":"2010-10-20T13:53:19","slug":"cooper-to-hold-conference-especially-for-moms-and-daughters-on-october-30th","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.cooperhealth.org\/news\/2010\/10\/cooper-to-hold-conference-especially-for-moms-and-daughters-on-october-30th\/","title":{"rendered":"Cooper to Hold Conference Especially for Moms and Daughters on October 30th"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Ripa Center for Women\u2019s Health &amp; Wellness, a program of Cooper University Hospital, will hold its annual \u201cMother-Daughter Day\u201d, on Saturday, October 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at aloft in Mount Laurel, NJ. \u201cMother-Daughter Day\u201d is a community health education event for women and their 8-12 year-old daughters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMoms and daughters have lots in common when it comes to their interest in being healthy, having positive relationships, and looking and feeling their best,\u201d explains Rosemarie Leuzzi, MD, an internal medicine physician at Cooper University Hospital and medical director of The Ripa Center for Women.\u00a0 \u201cThe goal of our \u2018Mother-Daughter Day\u2019 is to provide education, information and inspiration on a variety of relevant health, wellness and psycho-social issues that will impact the lives of women and their young teen and \u2018tween\u2019 daughters.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1596\" style=\"border: 0pt none;\" title=\"inside_201010_wiseman\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.cooperhealth.org\/news\/files\/2010\/10\/inside_201010_wiseman.jpg\" alt=\"Rosalind Wiseman\" width=\"196\" height=\"250\" \/><!--more-->Rosalind Wiseman, an internationally recognized expert on children, teens, parenting, bullying, social justice, and ethical leadership, will be the event\u2019s keynote speaker. Wiseman is the author of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/search\/ref=sr_1_2?rh=i%3Astripbooks%2Ck%3ARosalind+Wiseman&amp;keywords=Rosalind+Wiseman&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1287076450&amp;sr=1-2-ent&amp;field-contributor_id=B001IOH8ZW\"><em>Queen Bees and Wannabes: Helping Your Daughter Survive Cliques, Gossip, Boyfriends, and Other Realities of Adolescence<\/em><\/a> (Crown, 2002). Twice a New York Times Bestseller, <em>Queen Bees &amp; Wannabes<\/em> was the basis for the 2004 movie <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mean_Girls\">Mean Girls<\/a>. An updated edition of <em>Queen Bees &amp; Wannabes<\/em> was republished in 2009 with a chapter on younger girls, insights on how technology has impacted kids\u2019 social landscapes, and new commentary from girls and boys. Her follow-up book <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/search\/ref=sr_1_2?rh=i%3Astripbooks%2Ck%3ARosalind+Wiseman&amp;keywords=Rosalind+Wiseman&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1287076450&amp;sr=1-2-ent&amp;field-contributor_id=B001IOH8ZW\"><em>Queen Bee Moms and Kingpin Dads<\/em><\/a> was released in 2006, and she is a monthly columnist for <em>Family Circle<\/em> magazine.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the keynote address, women and girls can attend workshops on topics such as stress management, communication, and being smart with money and participate in bonding activities like Zumba, cookie decorating and hand massages.
