Sheridan, Jr., President and CEO at Cooper remarked at the opening ceremony, \u201cThis unit is going to make a huge difference in our overall hospital operations and through-put for patients.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The new unit has been specifically designed to meet the needs of patients who on presentation to the Emergency Department do not require in patient admission but are not quite well enough to be discharged and can benefit from further observation. Once in the CDU, patients are cared for by a multidisciplinary team evaluating the patient\u2019s condition and test results which will result in the patient\u2019s admission or discharge within a 24-hour timeframe.<\/p>\n<p>Examples of patients who may be cared for in the Clinical Decision Unit include patients with:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Chest pain<\/li>\n<li>Asthma<\/li>\n<li>Abdominal pain<\/li>\n<li>Dehydration<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All employees are invited to tour this new unit with:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>20 private rooms with bathroom facilities<\/li>\n<li>All rooms are equipped with patient emergency equipment<\/li>\n<li>Two rooms designed with handicap accessibility<\/li>\n<li>Telemetry monitoring<\/li>\n<li>Central nursing station<\/li>\n<li>Ample computer station alcoves<\/li>\n<li>Medication room<\/li>\n<li>Patient comfort: Two showers on unit, electronic shades on room windows, flat screen televisions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div id=\"videowithcaption\"><script src=\"http:\/\/content.bitsontherun.com\/players\/7jp334ng-Oru4m4KM.js\" type=\"text\/javascript\"><\/script><\/div>\n<div id=\"videocaption\">Kara S.
