\"\"<\/a>Congratulations to Cooper\u2019s 2011 Spirit of Planetree Award\u00a0winners, whose nominations were based\u00a0on recommendations from their departmental colleagues and members of other\u00a0departments and disciplines.\u00a0Voting from among 20 nominees, members of the Planetree Steering Committee announced the winners on August 22, 2011.<\/p>\n

The Spirit of Planetree Awards promote patient and family-centered care by recognizing those who personalize and\u00a0demystify the healthcare experience for\u00a0Cooper patients.<\/p>\n

As a Planetree affiliate, Cooper is able\u00a0to nominate a Physician Champion and\u00a0a Caregiver of the Year to be recognized\u00a0at the\u00a0Planetree annual conference. This\u00a0year\u2019s conference will be held in October,\u00a0in Nashville, Tenn.<\/p>\n

\u201cMary\u2019s tireless efforts to eliminate barriers for patients and families are incredible. She founded and implemented a NICU support group for our families. Mary is also an educator and a staunch advocate for protection of victims of domestic violence.<\/em><\/p>\n

\nSame Day Surgery \u2013 Camden<\/p>\n

\u201cWalt has been a volunteer for 16 years transporting our\u00a0patients to surgery. \u00a0He\u2019s always smiling and offers to pitch in\u00a0even when he\u2019s not on the schedule. When our patients arrive,\u00a0they are very apprehensive and after Walt has interacted with\u00a0them, they are often smiling and much more relaxed.<\/em><\/p>\n
