Each year more than 400,000 lives lost \u2013 25 percent of all deaths\u2014are related to tobacco use.  In addition, exposure to secondhand smoke causes thousands of deaths each year from lung cancer and heart disease in healthy non-smokers.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Cooper recognizes the issues of nicotine addiction and the stress relief aspect that smoking offers. To be sensitive to this, Cooper will support patients who actively smoke with smoking cessation information and prescribed support such as nicotine gum or patches. Please let your care provider know if you are in need of support so we may provide these alternatives for you.<\/p>\n<p>Improving the health and wellness of employees, visitors and patients is a high priority at Cooper and we are proud that our environment will now reflect this.
