Cooper was recognized as part of The Joint Commission\u2019s 2014 annual report \u201c<em>America\u2019s Hospitals: Improving Quality and Safety<\/em>,\u201d for attaining and sustaining excellence in accountability measure performance for heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia and surgical care.<\/p>\n<p>Cooper is one of 1,224 hospitals in the United States to achieve the 2013 <em>Top Performer<\/em> distinction.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Top Performer<\/em> program recognizes hospitals for improving performance on evidence-based interventions that increase the chances of healthy outcomes for patients with certain conditions, including heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, surgical care, children\u2019s asthma, stroke, venous thromboembolism and perinatal care, as well as for inpatient psychiatric services and immunizations.<\/p>\n<p>This is the second year that Cooper has been recognized as a <em>Top Performer<\/em>. Cooper was recognized in 2013 for its 2012 performance on accountability measure data in the same categories. Cooper is one of only 712 hospitals to achieve the <em>Top Performer<\/em> distinction for the past two consecutive years.<\/p>\n<p>To be a 2013 <em>Top Performer<\/em>, hospitals had to meet three performance criteria based on 2013 accountability measure data, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Achieving cumulative performance of 95 percent or above across all reported accountability measures.<\/li>\n<li>Achieving performance of 95 percent or above on each and every reported accountability measure where there were at least 30 denominator cases.<\/li>\n<li>Having at least one core measure set that had a composite rate of 95 percent or above, and (within that measure set) all applicable individual accountability measures had a performance rate of 95 percent or above.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cDelivering the right treatment in the right way at the right time is a cornerstone of high-quality health care. I commend the efforts of Cooper for their excellent performance on the use of evidence-based interventions,\u201d said Mark R.
