\"daisyaward_250\"<\/a>Cooper University Health Care has named Chris Thaler, RN, of Gloucester Township, NJ, as its first DAISY Award winner.<\/p>\n

The DAISY Award, established by The DAISY Foundation, is an international program that rewards and celebrates the extraordinary clinical skill and compassionate care given by nurses every day. It is presented in collaboration with the American Organization of Nurse Executives. Each quarter, Cooper will honor a nurse with The DAISY Award.<\/p>\n

Thaler, a cardiac nurse on Cooper\u2019s Pavilion 9 nursing unit, was selected among 52 nominees. He was nominated for the award by a patient\u2019s family for the way he treated their loved one with a calming and compassionate professional attitude. \u201cHe always took the time to talk to us and reassure us at length,\u201d they said in the nomination. \u201cHe made us feel like part of the care plan.\u201d Thaler has been a member of the Cooper staff since 2008. A graduate of Helene Fuld School of Nursing, Thaler has been a registered nurse for seven years.<\/p>\n

Each quarter\u2019s winner receives a DAISY Award recipient pin, a Healer\u2019s Touch hand-carved statue, an award certificate and a gift certificate for cinnamon rolls from Cinnabon. In addition, the selected nurse\u2019s unit receives a banner to post for the quarter.<\/p>\n

Anyone\u2014patients, families and professional colleagues\u2014may nominate a Cooper nurse for The DAISY Award. The DAISY Nomination materials are located on nursing units and other public locations throughout the main Cooper campus and outpatient offices, as well as online through the Cooper website.
