{"id":6487,"date":"2015-05-05T10:22:58","date_gmt":"2015-05-05T14:22:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.cooperhealth.org\/news\/?p=6487"},"modified":"2016-01-26T14:38:13","modified_gmt":"2016-01-26T19:38:13","slug":"teens-in-hospital-get-new-hangout","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.cooperhealth.org\/news\/2015\/05\/teens-in-hospital-get-new-hangout\/","title":{"rendered":"Teens in Hospital Get New Hangout"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>New Teen Lounge Opens at Children\u2019s Regional Hospital at Cooper<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Cooper Foundation, in partnership with the Alicia Rose Victorious Foundation and the Ravitz Family Foundation, today celebrated the opening of the new Teen Lounge at Children\u2019s Regional Hospital at Cooper.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis new Teen Lounge is designed to be a special place for our adolescent patients, where they can take a break from their hospital stay, have fun and meet others their own age who can relate to what they are going through,\u201d said Susan Bass Levin, President and CEO of The Cooper Foundation.\u00a0 \u201cWe are especially thankful to the Alicia Rose Victorious Foundation and the Ravitz Family Foundation for their generous support in making this important project a reality.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.cooperhealth.org\/news\/?attachment_id=6489\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6489\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.cooperhealth.org\/news\/files\/2015\/05\/victorious.jpg\" alt=\"victorious\" width=\"400\" height=\"267\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Alicia Rose Victorious Foundation and the Ravitz Family Foundation each donated $10,000 for the creation of the Teen Lounge, which is outfitted with a flat-screen television, comfortable couches and chairs, two computer consoles, gaming systems, board games, books and much more.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor teens confined to a hospital, the opportunity to have fun in a well-equipped, inviting environment truly assists in the healing process,\u201d said Gisele DiNatale, Co-founder of the Alicia Rose Victorious Foundation. \u201cMany hospitals have playrooms that are available for younger children, but when our daughter Alicia was hospitalized, we realized that teens need a welcoming space that they can call their own.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Children\u2019s Regional Hospital at Cooper treats approximately 500 adolescent patients annually, with 25 percent of those patients facing a life-threatening illness.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are honored to support the Teen Lounge at Cooper,\u201d said Steve Ravitz, Chairman of the Ravitz Family Foundation. \u201cNow teenagers being treated at Cooper have a place where they can hang out, play games and just be a kid for a while.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Cooper\u2019s Child Life Team will provide programming and activities geared specifically toward teenage patients.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAn essential part of providing comprehensive, family-centered health care is recognizing the importance of the environment in helping our patients feel better.
